In Geneva, there is no cantonal building insurance
Geneva is one of the few cantons without a cantonal building insurance body, and without compulsory building insurance. So everything depends on the policy taken out with a private insurer by the owner or the co-owners: it decides whether water damage is covered, and whether the cost of finding the leak is covered too.
Check this before the visit, with your insurer or your property manager. The report we give you (method used, location of the leak, photos, date) can be passed on as it is.

Travel, in all honesty
Geneva is about an hour and a half by road from our base in the Gibloux, and that journey has a cost. We do not bury it in the price of the search, which stays the same as in Fribourg: it is charged per kilometre beyond the included distance, a little over two hundred francs for the city centre, and the table shows it for each municipality. The exact amount is calculated for your address and shown before you pay.
That is also why, in Geneva, we only offer the jobs that justify the drive: leak detection, tank cleaning, pump replacement. For a small job, the journey would cost more than the work.

Does a cantonal insurer cover water damage?
No: Geneva has no cantonal building insurance body. Only the building’s private policy can cover water damage and, depending on its terms, the cost of finding the leak.
